Don’t get too excited, this article is not about a poorly disguised euphemism. Got your attention though, didn’t it? This guide is about thanking the number one in your life and hopefully that’s YOU. Focus in on numero uno this year and consider some of these tips:
Tip 1: Get healthy
Notice how I didn’t say drop 10 lbs? Why? Because if you’re really excited about the thought of weight loss, you probably haven’t been doing it right. Either your track record includes losing a bunch of weight and gaining it all back or you don’t lose at all.
Get healthy with these tips and the rest will follow:
- Do not skip breakfast.
- Funnel you meals, make breakfast the largest meal and dinner the smallest.
- Where possible, choose more protein and less carbs.
- Eat whatever you want, but control the portions.
- Stop drinking and eating “diet-free” food/drink that contains aspartame.
- Drink water, a lot.
- Exercise – walk, dance, do something to move.
- Relax – try to relieve stress.
If you’re really serious about healthy weight loss, you can’t pick and choose what you like from that list. This is not a burrito bar, unfortunately. You must consider all of the points above and incorporate them. Unless you have other underlying medical issues, these methods work.
Tip 2: Lose the addiction
Don’t let something else control you. Whatever or whoever it may be, lose it. You deserve to treat yourself well, so don’t let a crutch beat you up – figuratively and literally. Stop making excuses for things you can control. Address the problem and empower yourself. Is it smoking? Is it an abusive friend? Maybe you like to criticize yourself a little too much? Recognize the addictions that impact your life negatively and remove them.
Tip 3: Reward yourself
Every now and then you should indulge. Buy something expensive. Get a massage. Treat yourself to things that you enjoy — just keep it legal and try not to violate anyone. Slapping every 5th person you see because it makes you feel warm and fuzzy inside is typically frowned upon. Buying new shoes even if you don’t need them is okay once in a while. I mean as long as your electricity bills are being paid, a little shoe should not hurt anybody.
Remember, this is one relationship you can’t run from: you’re stuck with yourself for the rest of your life. So try to enjoy yourself and be good to you.
Tip 4: Get out of a bad relationship
You know you’re stuck with yourself. So if you’re having issues with you, fix that first.
Otherwise if you’re stuck with some awful bitch, dump that like a body bag. If you’d prefer to keep it, rotting and all, start to recognize if you can bring life back to it. Are you the problem? Are you the stubborn one? If so, then the relationship may be salvageable because you can control yourself, right? If it’s them, let them know. If they care enough, they should adjust. If not, toss them like a bag of old potatoes. Stop dragging the weight of something useless and starchy.
Tip 5: Be positive
Positive thoughts create positive energy which attracts positive things. A positive outlook just makes sense. It does a lot of good, makes you more approachable to people and often brings good news into your life. Be positive about getting healthy. Think optimistically about ditching those bad addictions. Constructively reward yourself once in a while. And gtfo of a bad relationship, because that will be one positive move.
The best and tastiest holiday of the year is approaching, Thanksgiving!
It’s tough to really thank the important people in your life, mostly because all that turkey and stuffing is obstructing your mouth, you slob. This year, don’t worry about it. Keep your face pressed firmly into the pie, let that gravy hang proudly off your chin, because this time, it’s all about you. Thank yourself for the good work, and keep on keepin’ on.
