There is probably no better “calorie burning workout” than the one Paul “The Punisher” Williams (39-1, 27 KO’s) will exhibit as he takes on Sergio Gabriel Martinez (45-2-2, 24 KO’s) Saturday night in Atlantic City, New Jersey.
This Dan Goosen/Lou DiBella promoted event starts at 8PM (MT) and is aired LIVE on HBO for the WBC middleweight crown in a scheduled twelve-round bout where the action will be hot and heavy from the opening bell.
These two recognized top caliber fighters in the middleweight division engaged in an epic battle last year (December 2009) in a bout that had both men down during the fight, Williams escaping with a highly disputed middle decision victory.
Although Martinez currently has the WBC belt in his possession, most feel until he avenges the loss to Williams, he cannot rightfully consider himself the middleweight champion.
Martinez has been vocal on his promises to dispatch of Williams by middle round KO, while Williams makes the same prediction, giving an insight to the approach both fighters are taking in this match.
Both fighters claim to be in the best shape of their careers, and promise to give fight fans the action they deserve.
This Saturday morning you can first head over to A-1 Boxing and Fitness to work on your own version of calorie burning, and then Saturday evening you can watch the same workout on HBO you had in the morning, only magnified several thousand times, when Williams and Martinez go at it.
Prediction: Paul Williams has the advantage in both height and reach, but the determination of Martinez to avenge the last year’s loss to Williams, will be his driving force to victory by way of an eighth-round TKO stoppage.
Karen Atencio (Denver): “I’m loving the boxing action every weekend! Sergio Martinez is determined, but Paul Williams is too tall. I like Williams by decision again.”
Darryl Ramos (Westminster): “Martinez is like a pit-bull and he’s going to be all over Williams early. The middle of the fight will be the deciding factor and I like Martinez to KO Williams around the tenth round.”
Beverly Thompson (Denver): “I don’t care who wins this fight. I’m just looking forward to some non-stop action with the best man standing when it’s over.”
