Yes, it has been awhile since I’ve written a column and my resolution for the coming year is to write more often. And, since this column is being posted around Christmas, I want to wish everyone a Merry Christmas and the more PC, Happy Holidays. Because it is Christmas, this column is a little different, but hopefully enjoyable. It is my take on “Twas the Night Before Christmas,” with a political twist!
Twas the night before Christmas, when in the White House
Not a creature was stirring, not even a louse
The entitlements were presented on the floors of Congress
In hopes that voters would be quite impressed
The Left snuggled as it sought lifetime power
With visions of grateful voters in the midnight hour
‘Big Sis’ created a TSA to fondle our “junk”
Searching grandmas, babies and even a monk!
The FDA seeks to rule our dinner platters
The FCC on all communication matters
Eric Holder sues the state of Arizona
All the while ignoring the terrorist mullah
Nancy and Harry screwed the masses
Even after the voters beat their asses
But then to my wondering eyes should appear
GOP saviors in full combat gear
Led by an Ohioan who occasionally sheds a few tears
Because he loves America each and every year
These new Republicans they came
Calling out bad Democrats by name
Now Boxer, now Barney, now Schumer and Durbin
On Grayson, on Rangel, on Kerry and leftist has beens
To the door, to the hall
Now dash away, dash away, dash away all!
Stop your taxing, spending and damaging ways
We’re putting an end to your ruling days
No more stimulus, waste and politicians corrupt
Or we’ll put you in a Gitmo hut!
Here comes the cavalry of fiscal sanity
Heralded by the voices of Limbaugh and Hannity
A smart Congressman named Paul Ryan
Will cut the budget like a big lumberman
New senators like Rubio, Portman and Kirk
Will replace various Democratic perps
There will be no more earmarks and budgetary folly
We will try to get our fiscal house in order, by golly
The Democrats scream, holler and stamp their feet
Angry that they are losing their treats
They sneer at and ignore the people’s will
As they continue to be obnoxiously shrill
The new GOP will flex its muscle in 2011
Emboldened with inspiration as if from heaven
They will put a stop to the Leftist excess
Bolstered by the forces of the Tea Party express!
The GOP spoke few words as they went to work
Their newfound mission they surely must not shirk
It’s time to cut so much wasteful pork
And plug the government spigot with a cork!
No more bailouts, nor ObamaCare and government takeovers
It’s time we put a stop to the Big Government lovers
This country cannot sustain its fiscal path
Otherwise, its citizens will take a financial bath
So now, the GOP leaders blow their whistles
Knowing their mandate was as clear as a crystal
We must get the government spending and regulations under control
For a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to all!
