For all the partygoers out there here is a list of the Top 8 things to avoid when it comes to your makeup courtesy of Allure Magazine:
1. Overdosing on glitter.
No further explanation needed other than avoid large flecks of glitter and stick to eyeshadows with small shimmer flecks to catch the light in a subtle way. Apply to the lids and inner corners. Recommended product – Nars Night Fairy.
2. Not wearing any shine.
Excessive shine is bad, but having no shine at all is worse. Create light reflection on key areas rather than all over. With a blush brush, dust highlighter powder on the highest parts of the cheeks and tip of your nose. If applying shine to the cheeks, avoid shimmery blushers and bronzers. Recommended product – Mally Shimmer, Shape and Glow Face Defining System.
3. Bare nails.
Draw the focus to your hands with in-your-face nail color. Try a classic red or bold and edgy black. Recommended products – M.A.C in Shirelle. Dior Vernis in Black Sequins.
4. Obvious lip liner.
Avoid bleeding lipstick while wearing bold colors by applying lip liner in the same color as lipstick and patting it on with your fingertips.
5. Eyeliner and mascara smudges.
To prevent mascara from smudges, apply a primer first coating the lashes followed by a water-resistant mascara. Recommended products – Shu Uemura Lash Repair. Lancome mascara. Use a smudge-proof liquid liner. Recommended product – Shiseido Automatic Fine Liner. Use a small brush to apply mascara and comb through the lashes after application.
6. A greasy face.
Meaning a super oily t-zone. Not the “shine” talked about earlier that you add for effect. There is a difference. Start by using a gentle, pH balanced cleanser that exfoliates. Apply a skin primer to bring a matte finish to the skin. Recommended product – Mally Beauty Perfect Prep Poreless Primer. For a quick fix use blotting papers that will not mess up your makep or leave a cakey look to the face.
7. No prep work.
No flakes. Not talking about the folks that stiff you, but the ones that appear on the face during the winter months. Exfoliate and moisturize the face followed by a thick cream that contains ceramicides. For lips use an exfoliating makeup remover wipe followed by a creamy lip balm. Recommended products – Ponds Clean Sweep Cleansing & Makeup Towelettes. Fresh Sugar Lip Treatment.
8. Mixing metals.
Do not mix silver and gold at the same time. Go by your skin tone. Warm is gold – better on darker skintones. Silver is cool better on fair skin.tones. Recommended products – L’Oreal Paris Studio Secrets Professional Eye Shadow Singles in Pure Silver. Revlon Perle Eyeshadow in Sparkling Gold.
