Adam Lambert performed in Paris tonight and once again surprised us with a new encore. This time he covered “Purple Haze” by Jimi Hendrix. A new encore song was expected by many fans, since Adam has made it clear that he’s excited to be performing in Paris. Plus, tomorrow is his guitarist, Monte Pittman’s birthday. Lambert made a similar move on October 17, when he performed a surprise cover of Enter Sandman by Metallica for his bassist, Tommy Joe Ratcliff’s birthday. He has not performed Enter Sandman since then.
Adam likes to keep his fans guessing, switching things up at his shows every now and then. On August 10, at the concert in Erie, PA, he debuted his cover of 20th Century Boy, by T. Rex. In addition, when he began the international portion of the Glam Nation tour in Asia he changed the concert set list, adding his songs Broken Open and For Your Entertainment.
The Glam Nation tour will continue in Germany tomorrow night, followed by 9 more concerts in Europe. Then Adam will bring the tour home to Los Angeles, with final performances on December 15 and 16. With Adam’s unpredictability, there’s no way to know if he will perform Purple Haze again at the remaining shows. But fans are hoping it will happen!
