Beyonce Heat, a fragrance launched by singer Beyonce earlier this year, is being advertised in England. The TV commercials feature Beyonce suggestively lying naked in a room and also wearing a slinky, red silk dress. During the Beyonce Heat commercial, Beyonce touches her neck and chest in a suggestive manner and is also seen dancing provocatively. This prompted The Advertising Standards Authority in the UK to ban the Beyonce Heat TV commercial from being shown before 7:30pm.
Beyonce Heat, which has been selling well at Target Stores in Silicon Valley as well as around the United States, has been launched in the UK with a racy ad campaign. Although the ad was banned during daytime TV, Coty, the company which produces Beyonce Heat, responded to the ASA’s ban with:
“Intended to reflect the singer Beyoncé’s personal ‘sexy chic’ style. They claimed the ad was not overtly graphic or explicitly sexual and at no point was Beyoncé naked. They said the ad was stylized, and in keeping with other ads in the genre.”
Although the ad was banned from being shown during daytime TV in the UK, the ban issued by the ASA gave Beyonce Heat a little bit of free advertising through the controversy. What is the old saying in Hollywood, there is no such thing as bad publicity!
Beyonce Heat is a fragrance that is meant for evening and is enhanced by body heat. The advertisement was reflective of Beyonce Heat’s purpose. Unfortunately, the Beyonce Heat commercial was too racy for young eyes, and daytime TV in the UK.
