Last week: Adam Hurtado eliminated, now living 138 lbs lighter
On episode seven, the “Biggest Loser” season 10 contestants were transferred to U.S. Marine Corps base Camp Pendleton for the chance of a lifetime – one week training with the Marines. The contestants were taken to the base in the middle of the night and were visibly exhausted and nervous when they arrived at their destination. Although they had barely slept, the contestants were thrown into camo uniforms and challenged to get themselves over a very long and large hill. The contestants had to carry all of their belongings, which made the task that much more excruciating. The group may have been completely exhausted and out of breath when they got to the end of the road, but the combat instructors reminded them that they had already accomplished a lot by completing that challenge.
Things only got tougher after day one. The group was awake at 5:00 a.m. every morning, working out and training from sun up to sun down. They were also on an extremely regimented schedule, which Brendan said taught him true discipline. Trainer Bob said the grueling schedule made him very worried going in to the weigh in because he knew the contestants hadn’t been getting enough sleep or eating the right foods.
Nick DeCarlo, Vicki Casciola eliminated from “The Amazing Race” 17 on episode six
The episode seven challenge was a race with military-style obstacles, such as crawling under ropes and pushing a hummer – mixed in. The goal was to cross the finish line as a team, and although the black team did not win the challenge, they proved that being a team through the good and the bad was the number one priority. Each contestant had to wear a backpack with three 10 pound weights in it. The team was allowed to distribute the weight however they saw fit. The black team decided to take one weight out of each of the women’s backpacks and put it in a man’s backpack. Probably from a mix of the weights and the heat, Elizabeth collapsed during the challenge. It looked like the team wouldn’t finish, but they weren’t going anywhere without Elizabeth, and she wasn’t going to let them down. It took a little while, but she got herself together and let the team help her finish the race. The blue team, who had just won phone calls from home, was at the finish line cheering them on when they finally hit the beach.
