For if you keep silent at this time, relief and deliverance shall arise for the Jews from elsewhere, but you and your father’s house will perish. And who knows but that you have come to the kingdom for such a time as this and for this very occasion. Esther 4:13
One person with courage makes a majority. Andrew Jackson
This article was inspired by Pastor Matt Sasser, the children’s pastor of Ozark First Assembly in Ozark. His sermon was titled “The Power of One”, what a great message it was. In keeping with the thoughts he put into this Examiner’s mind, this article will tread where few seem to go these days. With America sinking even further into deep economic turmoil we all could use something to uplift, encourage, and inspire.
One person through the power of prayer can affect lives on a daily basis. The word of God says we fight in a spiritual battle everyday. Ephesians 6:12; For we are not wrestling with flesh and blood [contending only with physical opponents], but against the despotisms, against the powers, against [the master spirits who are] the world rulers of this present darkness, against the spirit forces of wickedness in the heavenly (supernatural) sphere. The power of one person’s faith and relying on God can truly change any situation!
Jesus said in Matthew 17:20; He said to them, Because of the littleness of your faith [that is, your lack of firmly relying trust]. For truly I say to you, if you have faith [that is living] like a grain of mustard seed, you can say to this mountain, Move from here to yonder place, and it will move; and nothing will be impossible to you. Imagine being able to move an obstacle as mighty as a mountain. Sometimes we have insurmountable objects that the enemy places in our way to achieving the purpose and destiny that God has for our lives-But we can overcome them!
We can not, we must not let circumstances dictate to us how we live our lives. When the storms of life come we must endure! Even though the odds may be stacked against us with God’s help we can do the impossible. God says that “with him all things are possible” (Mark 9:23). In our weakness God’s strength is made manifest. If we rely on him, things can and do change! It takes one person believing without any doubt and the impossible will be achieved.
Sometimes when things are going well, we forget there is an enemy seeking our downfall. He uses many devices to trip us up. It is wise to know how the enemy works if we are to achieve victory when temptations come. We can only do this by being in sync with God’s word and in constant communication with Him through prayer. We must be on guard and ever vigilant to repel the enemy’s attacks. The word of God says in Psalm 119:11; Your word have I laid up in my heart, that I might not sin against You. Holding God’s word in our hearts helps us to be ready for any possibility that comes our way.
The times we are living in are growing darker and sin runs rampant. The darkness of this world has blinded the hearts and minds of those who do not seek after God. The direction America is headed can be discouraging to the believer-but be encouraged “one” person can change the world! Look at what a man called Jesus did by being obedient to the Heavenly Father. He changed the world and the effects can still be seen 2,000 years later. However there is so much controversy involved that the results of what he did often gets lost and forgotten. The fact still remains that he accomplished great and mighty deeds while he was on earth.
Hebrews 12:2; Looking away [from all that will distract] to Jesus, Who is the Leader and the Source of our faith [giving the first incentive for our belief] and is also its Finisher [bringing it to maturity and perfection]. He, for the joy [of obtaining the prize] that was set before Him, endured the cross, despising and ignoring the shame, and is now seated at the right hand of the throne of God. One person can leave a lasting legacy for many generations to come, will you be the one person who steps out in faith and dares to believe the impossible? You were born for such a time as this!
