The Rose Bowl Hall of Fame announced the 2010 inductees, who will be installed at the Hall of Fame induction ceremony on Dec. 30.
They are Brad Budde, one of the University of Southern California’s most highly decorated offensive linemen; Hayden Fry, who led the Iowa Hawkeyes to 97 Big Ten came victories in his 20 years as head coach; and Leroy Keyes, a Big Ten MVP from Purdue and pro player for the Philadelphia Eagles.
During his college career, Brad Budde was a unanimous All-American, USC Offensive Line Player of the Year, Most Inspirational Player, and Academic All-American. He is the only Lombardi Award winner in USC’s history. He started in three Rose Bowl Games, all three of which the Trojans won. Budde played on the Kansas City Chiefs for eight years. He was inducted into the National Football Foundation College Hall of Fame in 1999.
Under Hayden Fry, the Hawkeyes won three league titles and Rose Bowl appearances. He is Iowa’s winningest coach with a career mark of 232-178-10. He was voted Big Ten Coach of the Year three times and inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame in 2003.
Leroy Keyes was the first Purdue player to rush more than 1,000 yards in a season and equaled the school record of 14 rushing touchdowns. He made the Boilermakers’ All-Time Football Team as both an offensive back and defensive back, and was selected as Purdue’s All-Time Greatest Player. He was inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame in 1990.
The Rose Bowl Hall of Fame Inductees are selected by a committee which includes representatives from the Tournament of Roses, the media and college football. Tournament of Roses President Harold E. Coombes (1982) launched the Hall of Fame. Those eligible for induction include players, coaches, school administrators, athletic directors, conference officials and others who have made special contributions to the Rose Bowl Game.
Tickets can be purchased for $60 in person or by calling the Pasadena Convention Center box office at (626) 449-7360.
