Auditions – Lerner & Loewe’s CAMELOT
Dates/Times: November 8 and 9, 2010, starting at 7pm.
Performance Dates: December 31, 2010 thru January 29, 2011 on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays at 7:30pm, and Saturdays at 3:00pm and 7:30pm.

About the Show: Camelot is the legendary story of King Arthur, Guenevere, Lancelot, The Knights of the Round Table, Mordred and Merlin. It is a tale with enchantments, knights, fate, fair maidens, passion, betrayal, romance, redemption, hope, forgiveness, idealism and higher purpose. Some of the enchanting musical numbers by Lerner and Loewe include “The Simple Joys of Maidenhood,” “The Lusty Month of May,” “How to Handle a Woman,” “I Loved You Once in Silence,” “If Ever I Would Leave You” and “What Do the Simple Folk Do?” In the end, it is twelve-year-old Tom who tells the world of Camelot’s quest for right and honor and justice.
To Audition: Those auditioning are asked to be prepared to sing 32 bars of music, in the style of or from the show. An accompanist will be provided. Please be familiar with the script and music before auditions. If you are auditioning for a specific role, please be sure you are of the physical type and believable in the age range for the role.Those auditioners whom the director wishes to see further will be invited to a call back audition, which may last up to three hours time.
Rehearsals: Rehearsals begin Monday, November 15, 2010.

CAST OF CHARACTERS (All parts may be double cast)
KING ARTHUR – mid 20’s to 40’s – Baritone – The loyal, good nervous, and shy King of Camelot – cerebral, but who also approaches the world with the wonder of a young boy – like unto a young squire (will perform Saturday matinees and as needed)
GUENEVERE – 20’s to 30’s – Mezzo – King Arthur’s destined bride who falls in love with Lancelot; independent, impulsive, and speaks her mind – fresh, regal, while still capturing the young girl wanting adventure
LANCELOT – mid 20’s to 40’s – Baritone – A French knight who has an unabashed ego and fully realized sense that he’s the best example of a sword-wielding, Bible-studying warrior one could ever ask for – the best man to serve as a Knight of the Round Table; eventually falls in love with Queen Guenevere and becomes a man dealing with his own contradictions.
MERLIN / KING PELLINORE – Age – 40+ – Non-singing role – Merlin – Arthur’s wise tutor, think Gandolf / King Pellinore – A childhood friend of Arthur’s, think John Cleese
MORDRED – Age – late teens to 20’s – The evil young son of Arthur and the witch, Morgause.
