Carrie Underwood got emotional last night when she collected her latest award. Winner of the CMT Artists of the Year Award she took it to heart just how much the fans love the entertainer. The ceremony, held in the Factory in Franklin, honored four of the top performers in Country music with Carrie Underwood sharing the honor.
The actual decision on who won an award was composed of several different elements, which brought a new look to the award show. CMT took to the statistics of the individual entertainers and drove it down to numbers. According to their website, the honorees were part of society’s pop culture:
CMT ARTISTS OF THE YEAR acts were chosen by ranking the top five artists based on the following criteria: sales (physical albums, digital albums, and single downloads); country radio airplay based on spins; concert grosses as a headliner or co-headliner; and activity on CMT.com (video streams, searches, and artist page views). The rankings were then compiled to identify the leading performers across the four categories cumulatively.
Last night Carrie Underwood received her award from Country music legend Randy Travis and was extremely grateful to everyone who helped with her career.
