Attention all servicemen and women. Through New Year’s Eve, the Occidental Grill & Seafood (1475 Pennsylvania Ave.NW, 202/783-1475) is offering servicemen and women, their families and friends, a 20 percent discount on the entire check in the dining room or bar. The reduced rate also applies to the New Year’s Eve special prix fixe menu of $75. In addition, servicemen and women will receive a 10 percent discount at Occidental throughout 2011. Please present a military identification to receive the discount.
The family style Chinese banquet menu has returned to the Source (575 Pennsylvania Ave.NW, 202/637-6100) through December 30th. Priced at $55 per person, all dishes on the menu are served family-style. The special menu will be served in the upstairs dining room during regular dinner hours.
Chef Scott Drewno’s menu includes a selection of Asian-inspired dishes. His dim sum tasting includes six different types of dumplings. Other menu items are pork belly with fresh vegetables, red cooked pork with rice cakes and Napa cabbage, Shanghai noodles, braised short ribs, glazed pineapple cake and Szechuan peppercorn ice cream.
For the rest of December, Poste Moderne Brasserie (555 8th St.NW, 202/783-6060) will host a holiday-themed Poste Roast. Options include porchetta served with apples, kale and choucroute ($55 per person), rib roast with Yorkshire pudding and mushroom duxelles ($75 per person). The bar will feature champagne tastings, paired with blini, oysters and foie gras, priced at $35 per person. In addition, a special “cookies and port” menu featuring a variety of ports, sherries and Madeira will be available along with a selection of holiday-inspired sweets.

Bastille (1201 N. Royal St., Alexandria, 703/519-3776) will offer a special $49 three-course prix-fixe menu with optional wine pairings at $29. The menu includes Maine lobster bisque or a foie gras terrine, ham or duck, an optional cheese course and a selection of desserts.
At 701 Restaurant (701 Pennsylvania Ave.NW, 202/393-0701) a $55 per person three-course menu in addition to an a la carte menu will be offered from 5 to 10 p.m. The menu includes roasted pheasant breast, black bass with crispy crab gnocchi, ricotta and apple ravioli and eggnog crème brulee. Valet parking is available for $8.
Chef Nicholas Stefanelli will prepare the traditional Italian Feast of Seven Fishes, available from 5:30 to 10>30 p.m. at Bibiana Osteria-Enoteca (1100 New York Ave.NW, 202/216-9550). His menu, priced at $75 per person, highlights salt cod with potatoes, onion, garlic and chiles; shrimp calamari, smelts, oysters, and cauliflower; black spaghetti with sea urchin, grilled eel with onion compote; and sponge caked filled with lemon cream.
At Againn (1099 New York Ave.NW, 202/639-9830), the English-style Christmas Eve menu, priced at $65 or $90 with wine pairings, begins with a seafood terrine, followed by a Christmas goose. Dessert is a Christmas pudding.
A three-course prix-fixe menu will be available on Christmas Eve at Bourbon Steak (2800 Pennsylvania Ave.NW, 202/944-2026). The menu will be available at both lunch and dinner and on Christmas Day as well. Appetizers include roasted foie gras with gingerbread puree; entrée selections highlight roasted goose, prime rib and glazed suckling pig ham; desserts include sticky toffee pudding, tangerine tart and bitter chocolate cake.
