Upset?!? Frazzled? Dis-enchanted? Few words can truly describe the sense of loss that engulfs Chuck fans right now as we struggle to fill that 8pm Monday time-slot with something else meaningful and productive until…January 17, 2011. So let’s attempt to have a little fun commiserating about what has been and what is to come? A large dose of speculation might numb the symptoms of being “Chuckless” in D.C.
After Sarah valiantly rescues her beau, there is a smidgeon of downtime before, BOOM, Volkoff;s top assassins in North America are sent to snuff Chuck. The world has changed. Once, upon a fine evening a couple could walk hand-in-hand without a care in the world contemplating their future together without any fear of assassination. Apparentlly, our favorite nerd-herder walks with an invisible target on his back and vulnerably now that he is “intersectless.” Once again mom comes to the rescue drilling the assassins with three deadly accurate, single tap silencer shots short milliseconds apart.
So after an interrogation for mom, a Buy More hostile takeover leading a post Thanksgiving leftover gathering from Hades what else is there? Re-booting Chuck’s supercomputer works. Seeing the ingenuity of leaving us on this hopeful note is a real token of kindnes that sets us at ease, instead of the usual between-season cliffhanger finale that so many shows find necessary.
Yet “Chuck” is “cool like that.” He is safe from Volkoff indefinitely or until his mom’s cover is blown, thanks to her very convincing threat/promise of guaranteed death should anyone endanger her family. So having tied off all loose ends except one, we ponder that nagging question what wedding plans are coming down the aisle in January?
The infamous wedding plans are like a well placed carat dangling in front of the noses of curious fans! When a best friend completely bails on keeping the plans a secret, what can you do? Figure out an even better, more extravagant one. Imagine Morgan assisting his “BFF” with the new secret wedding extravaganza. Perhaps, the writers will even bring Casey, his stalwart hard-as-nails, fellow spy in on it. Surely, his sister and her awesome husband must have a chance for input too. Writers had the couple about to spy wedding rings in the store window as a foreshadowing to whet our curiosity about how it’s all going to happen. Similarly, we pause here as we contemplate future nuptials. Until then, be strong and by all means fill the Chuck void with something that will surely pale in comparison, yes, but be constructive anyway.
