After a five year hiatus, “America’s favorite Big Top Circus”, Circus Vargas, returns to Las Vegas over Thanksgiving Weekend at the Rio All Suite Hotel and Casino. The fun begins on Thursday, November 25th, 2010 and lasts all weekend long with a final performance on Monday, November 29th, 2010.
Founder Clifford E. Vargas was a lifelong fan of the circus and wanted to bring back the thrill and excitement that fans enjoyed from the circus of years ago. Consequently, Vargas was adamant that the only way to achieve the authentic circus of his childhood dreams was to have it under the big top – and in 1969, he did just that.
For the next 20 years Vargas entertained children and adults alike until his untimely death in 1989.
Circus Vargas was able to continue thanks to longtime friends Roland Kaiser and Joseph Muscarello, who assumed the responsibility of keeping the show together. This partnership lasted nearly 15 years until their retirement in 2003.
Trapeze artists are one of the largest attractions of any circus, and this is no different with Circus Vargas. In what can only be described as destiny, the Flying Tabares of Argentina – a family of trapeze artists featuring brothers Nelson and Alberto Tabares – were hired by Clifford Vargas and brought to the United States as part of Circus Vargas’ 20th anniversary.
It was in 2005 when Nelson Quiroga and Katya Quiroga-Tabares became citizens of the United States and founded their own production company – Tabares Entertainment, Inc., and jumped at the opportunity of taking over the circus after the announcement that Kaiser and Muscarello were retiring – fulfilling the strict tradition and belief of true performers that “the show must go on.”
Be sure to catch the excitement of the Big Top that is sure to entertain children of all ages, the circus that is proudly presented by Tabares Entertainment – Circus Vargas!
Circus Vargas will be appearing Under The Big Top located at the Rio All Suite Hotel & Casino.
Everyone is encouraged to arrive 30 minutes before show time to take advantage of a special treat for the children where former Amazing Race contestant Jon Weiss will teach them several techniques of the circus, in the very same ring where the performance takes place.
