Whiskey Cake debuts
Whiskey Cake Kitchen & Bar is now open on Plano’s west side. Having re-modeled the building previously occupied by the Plano Tavern, it sits on the northwest corner of W. Parker Road at the Dallas North Tollway.
Initial intelligence indicated a focus on “from scratch-only” entrees and specialty cocktails along with, of course, a wide-ranging menu of world-class whiskeys. However, a quick look at their menu finds a fairly decent number of craft beers on tap, including around a half-dozen Texas brews. That said, there are some curiosities on the menu that warrant further investigation, so expect more to come on this new establishment.
Jester King delivers Black Metal to the Metroplex
After a successful debut with their initial offering of Commercial Suicide, Jester King is delivering their latest release to select tap accounts this week. Black Metal Imperial Stout is a winter seasonal described as having huge flavors derived from the use of dark, roasted malts with an aggressive hop bitterness and a hint of leather.
The initial release is draught only, and is rumored to be headed to both The Holy Grail Pub, and Vickery Park in Plano. Additional Metroplex locations expected to receive kegs include Meddlesome Moth, The Common Table, Trinity Hall, and The Libertine Bar in Dallas, as well as Lazy Bones in Grapevine.
Champagne-style 750mL bottles will follow later in the season.
