Cleaniness is next to Godliness is a saying heard time and time again. Clutter, filth and unsanitary conditions are attributes not associated with the award winning custodial staff at Granby Elementary in Norfolk. When you enter the building at the school, the thing you notice is the shinny floors and clean building. Gloria Cole, building supervisor is the leader of the four woman custodial team and says they are there to provide a safe, secure, and sanitary enviroment for the students and staff to function in.
Norfolk Public Schools has a mission to be world class, and the custodial staff feels that statement applies to them also. Recently the team was awarded with an award of excellence for their outstanding achievement in their field of custodial management. The large plaque style trophy is displayed in the entrance of the Granby Elementary school entrance. All who enter the building can see what a plus it is for the children, and staff to be in such a clean environment, and have a team who always does their best, to keep it that way. The team members are Gloria Cole supervisor, Denene Butts, Deborah Carter, and Danielle Fentress.
