In his last press conference of the year, the President made a stirring appeal for the passage of the Dream Act. His view is that students of undocumented aliens be provided a college education at public expense because it’s not their fault that their parents chose to come here illegally.
U.S. high school students applying to a colleges today know how challenging it is to be accepted at the four year schools they desire.
Even at the two year college level, where most of these Dream Act students would apply, resources and budgets are so limited that fewer mandatory classes are offered, creating presently a backlog of students in waiting.
College applications have been surging throughout most of the nation.
While California, as an exception, did have fewer applicants to community colleges last year, the reason was that those classes they needed were not available.
The President feels that it is “heartbreaking….that we can’t be who we are” when it comes to having Congress authorize the offspring of illegal aliens attending publicly funded colleges.
Remember that it is also “heartbreaking”, Mr. President, that our own citizens are presently denied their “inalienble right” to a fine and proper education due to their lack of funds and the economic plight of our Middle Class.
In other words, we need to take care of our own, first.
