Trending topics on Twitter can be brutal to the mental state. Kind of a compilation of yo moma jokes and Brett Favre mentions. So what should you do when you’re in the mood to read about a normal fashion trend? Read about Brett Favre’s bedroom photo’ing…nope! So luckily I love making lists, and so I’ve made a list of essential fashion twitterers that have Twitter down pat, compiled of bloggers, magazines, brands and stylists rated for their original content, speed and regular updates. And please please tell me if I’ve missed any.
See in the Twitter-fashion world you either have twitterers that:
1. Only link to their own page as a non-stopping advertisement – Very annoying
2. Write nothing except that they’re going to the gym and inform us of their dinnertime rituals – Annoying
3. Complain about how much they hate twitter… – no comment
And then barely you have some interesting, fashion knowledgeable, unique twitterers that give us what Twitter should be – something interesting to read when we’re on the subway or waiting on line and need something to ponder on.
Daniel P Dykes – @Fashionising :
Daniel Dykes is a blogger who, ”late one Oxford night created a fashion spot for people who enjoy fashion as an art of living” ahh yes, that’s what I’m talking about. He runs one of the internet’s most successful fashion blogs. His tweets are mostly a feed to his blog, but also some insights on the taxing life of a fashionista. A real fashion insider. And I just so happen to love his blog/website – Fashionising.com.
Vanesa – @TheHautePursuit :
True there are a lot of bloggers that are on Twitter, especially fashion bloggers, but besides having a really good fashion taste, she doesn’t just link endlessly to her blog. She interacts and talks with her twitter people. And besides, she isn’t afraid to talk about things other than fashion (not that there is anything else…).
Alyssa Pfeiffer – @APatNotJustYet :
Few online stores know how to do social media like lingerie giant NotJustYet.com, they’re adorable PR girl Alyssa Pfeiffer (whom I’ve met), a fashion graduate, is just so much fun to follow. She’s interesting, funny, is constantly tweeting, and gives you the feel of her life as a fashion PR girl in NYC. She barely links back to NotJustyet.com (which I actually would’ve liked her to do more, their lingerie is amazing!) so her twitter feed is personal, and she’s always there to answer any questions you might have, whether it’s about anything on NotJustYet.com, about lingerie in general, or about anything else girl related.
Jim Shi – @jimshi809 :
A high-profile fashion journalist that always has the scoop on everything fashion, from events, to new releases. Plus a big plus is that he’s kind of a freelancer so he’s not constantly linking back to his site.
DKNY PR Girl – @DKNY :
Let’s face it. If you want to talk to the people inside major brands, you’ve probably learned that twitter doesn’t really get you there, but there are exceptions and DKNY is one of them. And to tell you the truth, their PR girl has gotten my interest in DKNY back.
Treacle – @Lingerie_Addict :
Tweet, Pose, Blog, Sleep:
One of lingerie’s most knowledgeable bloggers and probably one of its biggest addicts. Her blog TheLingerieaddict.com is one of my favorites. She’s constantly adding articles, finding stunning lingerie, posts the sexiest lingerie pics and poses herself in lingerie every once in a while. Uses the social media platform to engage with fans and gives followers a sense of her personality and quirkiness.
Celebrity Style Guide – @CelebStyleGuide :
Beyond their impressive amount of celeb sightings and the latest fashion-trend knowledge, their website is actually fun. And for what they do, they’re really good at Twitter. They’re always online, tweeting the latest sightings, trends etc.
Singer22 – @Singer22 / Boutique To You – @boutiquetoyou :
Two different celeb-fashion-following shopping sites. Yes they both mostly feed to their website, but actually for a good reason. They sell fashion that celebs wear, so it’s constantly updating and they constantly have to tweet about it. Besides, if you enjoy shopping the latest celeb trends you kind of do want to be updated about it all the time.
Forever 21 – @Forever21_tweet :
Truth be told Forever 21 barely got on my list. Why? They used to actually have an interesting twitter feed but recently it’s become more and more linky and includes less and less interesting content. But out of respect for what they’ve done up until now I’ve decided to add them.
Stefano Gabanna- @stefanogabbana :
I’ll tell you, as half of Dolce & Gabanna you would think that he wouldn’t be doing his own tweeting, but not true. Yea a lot of his tweets are tiny two words sentences, but he does tweet interesting things as well. Besides you can actually interact with him!
Aimee Song – @aimeesong :
A fun source for fashion tweets. Plus tweets about her random observations like about her love for cheesecakes. Her tweets actually make us want to hang out with her.
Carrie Michael – @barestyle :
I had a while where I was really really obsessed with her website – ShopSeventhDoor.com. Don’t have that much time to shop there as constantly now, but an amazing taste in fashion and keeps you on the inside for all her fashion quests.
Cindiddy – @Cindiddy :
One of today’s most popular fashioners. Her twitter account actually links a whole lot, but she does it in an interesting way. Two thumbs up.
Chantal – @cocorosas :
A really sweet street fashion blogger, updates daily and cute tweets.
Georgina Gainza – @GeorginaGainza :
The more fashion-inners definitely have heard of MatchesFashion.com, and the ones that love the store should know that there are a few people that decide what they will carry, and Georgina is one of them. Really fun to read her on-the-scene fashion events experiences while she informs you of the styles buyers are running after – a great trend forecasting tool.
