Glee has become one of the most valuable shows on the Fox network. We have only seen six episodes of season two, but the hit comedy has brought in record ratings for the network from one week to the next. For this reason, it is no surprise to see Fox snagging the show creator for a huge contract.
According to Deadline.com, Murphy is in negotiations to close a 4-year $24-million deal with Glee producer 20th Century Fox TV. The deal reportedly includes services on Glee and new development through his Ryan Murphy Production Co.
This amount includes revenue from Glee’s music business, album sales, downloads, touring and merchandising. Murphy will also have the option to develop a Glee Broadway musical.
While fans might jump to the conclusion that this secures a place for Glee on Fox until 2014, this might not be the case. The contract is not exclusively for Glee. As indicated above, the deal includes new development as well as continued work on Glee.
