Once in a while, you will see a story about one topic which inadvertently reveals information about something completely different. Notorious left-wing statist Senator Harry Reid once locked an underage boy in his garage until he ‘cried uncle’, according to the Senator’s own son Josh Reid.
An article about new ‘Tea Party’ Utah Senator-elect Mike Lee in The New Republic recounts how the Lee and Reid families go way back. Lee’s father Rex, Solicitor General in the Reagan Administration, headed to Washington the same time Harry Reid did, and the two families became close “through the Mormon Church”. Page one of the article notes “Harry’s son, Josh, recounts that his father, a practical jokester, once locked preteen Mike Lee in his garage until he cried uncle.”
Senator-Elect Michael S, Lee, now out of the closet so to speak, gave a speech to the Federalist Society last month after winning the election, and speaks of how the Constitution was “somewhat of a second religion in our home”. Like many alleged ‘Tea Party’ candidates, Lee spouts all the correct talking points, such as acknowledging that government leaders “have a tendency to become tyrants.”
However, upon closer examination of Mike Lee’s agenda, it is clear that he supports an unsustainable foreign policy of intervention and entangling alliances with foreign nations. On his campaign website ISSUES PAGE, Lee outlines his zionist credentials:
“Israel is our closest ally in the Middle East, providing the United States with a stable and dependable partner in a hostile region of the world. Israel faces many of the same threats confronting the United States and we share a common interest in eradicating threats to peace worldwide. For these and other reasons, the United States has an undeniably strong interest in defending Israel’s national sovereignty and security. As a member of the U.S. Senate, I will support Israel’s right to defend itself against threats to its national sovereignty and security. I will also support U.S. efforts to protect Israel, given the close connection between Israel’s national security and our own. I strongly support the maintenance of Israel’s qualitative military edge and recognize the important role the United States plays in assuring that this military superiority is maintained…”
Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu met with Lee last week in Israel. The Jerusalem Post, in their account of the meeting, described Lee as a “Tea Party darling’, and noted that Lee’s wife “lived and studied here for an extended period of time”.
37 year old Josh Reid, the one who revealed the locked-in-the-garage incident, is from Henderson Nevada and was recently appointed by President Obama to the Tahoe Regional Planning Agency’s Governing Board.
71 year old Harry “Mason” Reid, who took office in January 1987, is a longtime advocate of government meddling into American’s lives. Perhaps this staunch advocate of “Child Protective Services” should have had a visit from the agency to investigate child abuse claims? Oh, they might scoff, “locking a kid in a garage until he cries is not child abuse at all”, I can hear the Reid and Lee families say in unison, as they leave their Mormon-Masonic Temple, ready to tyrannize America and bog it down, saddled with debt, regulations, and needless wars.
As Congressman Ron Paul pointed out, “as many frustrated Americans who have joined the Tea Party realize, we cannot stand against big government at home while supporting it abroad. Oddly enough, Senator-elect Rand Paul from Kentucky holds nearly-identical views to Mike Lee when it comes to the U.S. “special relationship” with Israel. We will see where all this is headed soon enough.
For the record, the L.A. County Libertarian Examiner does not support locking children in closets, garages, or anywhere else to make them cry. Thus, I endorse none of the above mentioned candidates.
