You have shopped for hours. Your feet hurt, your back aches from toting packages around, and you are hungry. Where can you go to get real food that tastes great, does not cost a fortune for you and the kids, and does not have a thousand artery-stopping calories? Have you been to Zaxby’s lately?
I was in my local Zaxby’s in Blairsville this week. I can’t stop to have lunch just anywhere. I have a wheat and wheat-gluten allergy. My granddaughter is allergic to all nuts, and my daughter has an allergy to dairy products. I knew I could get a salad at Zaxby’s, but I never knew I could have it my way until I spoke to Nate, Karen, and assistant manager Angela Brown. It seems all three of us can enjoy a meal together at Zaxby’s because they are allergy-aware. There is something for everyone.
It isn’t really advertised, but you can have items left out of your salad, items added to your salad, and even have ranch dressing on your Caesar Zalad. For those who are unaware, a Zalad is Zaxby’s House salad. The lettuce is chopped fresh, as well as the other vegetables. You can have grilled chicken, fried chicken, or no chicken on your Zalad. You can substitute this for that. They even serve fresh homemade tater chips. I can’t recommend those because of the high calories, sodium, and fat, but I can say they took me back to my childhood when I would spent weekends with my best friend from sixth grade. Cathy’s mother always made homemade potato chips on those special weekends.
Suggested menu for tired holiday shoppers:
Caesar Zalad: no croutons, grilled chicken, Caesar dressing – 522 calories
Grilled chicken sandwich: with curly fries – 411 calories
Chicken salad sandwich: with curly fries – 392 calories
Side salad: 178 calories
Kiddie Finger meal: chicken fingers and fries – 390 calories
Kiddie Cheese: fries with cheese and a slice of toasted Texas toast – 443 calories
Lemonade: regular – 340 calories; kid-sized – 170 calories; sweet tea – 340 calories
I suggest drinking water if you are really watching those calories. I highly recommend Zaxby’s for the great food, friendly staff, and well-kept restaurant. I apologize to Nate, Karen, and Angela for not displaying their photos. I am hoping Santa will bring me a new computer for Christmas so I will never have another problem downloading photos again. I hope to have a slide show of all the great people serving food to tired, grumpy holiday shoppers as we near the end of the buying season. A special thank you goes out to Nate for taking his own time, after work, to answer my questions. Happy Holidays to Zaxby’s staff in Blairsville, Georgia.
