Looking for a last minute gift for that pet owner on your Christmas list? How about giving her a gift basket of grooming supplies? All pet owners use grooming products and it’s simple to individualize a basket especially for your recipient’s pet. Any type of basket will do: a straw or plastic basket, or even a plastic or metal pail will work nicely. Next, you will want to tailor your purchases to the type of pet your friend has.
Gift baskets for long-coated dogs should contain: Pin brush, fine-toothed comb, bottle of shampoo, bottle of conditioner, nail clippers, ear cleaner and cotton balls, bottle of dog cologne, bows or bandana. You can add a rhinestone collar, dog sweater, and even a rubber duckie for bath time. Some long-coated dogs are the Golden Retriever, Irish Setter, Yorkshire Terrier and Maltese.
Gift baskets for double-coated dogs should contain: Dog slicker brush, undercoat rake or FURminator, bottle of shampoo, bottle of conditioner, nail clippers, ear cleaner and cotton balls, bottle of dog cologne, bandana. You can add bath toys, a collar or collar charms. Some double-coated dogs are the German Shepherd Dog, Siberian Husky, and Great Pyrenees.
Gift baskets for short-haired dogs should contain: Dog bristle brush, bottle of shampoo, nail clippers, ear cleaner and cotton balls, bottle of dog cologne, bandana. You can add toys, collar charms, or a Kong Zoom Groom rubber brush. Some short-haired dogs are the Pit bull terrier, Boxer and Miniature Pinscher.
Gift baskets for short-haired cats should contain: Cat slicker brush, waterless cat shampoo, nail clippers, ear cleaner and cotton balls, bottle of cologne for cats. You can add cat shampoo if you know the pet takes baths with water, a rhinestone cat collar and some toys.
Gift baskets for long-haired cats should contain: Cat slicker brush, fine-toothed comb, waterless cat shampoo, nail clippers, ear cleaner and cotton balls, bottle of cologne for cats. If you know the pet takes baths with water, you can add shampoo and conditioner, as well as toys.
Your gift basket can be personalized with ribbon, charms, pet magnets or you can paint the pet’s name or some paw prints on it. It can and should be a lot of fun and does not have to be expensive. All the above-mentioned grooming products can be found at the Nebraska Humane Society Gift Shop and Animal Outfitters at Westroads Mall. Many supplies can be found at Omaha’s Petsmart or Petco stores also. Help a pet owner this Christmas with a thoughtful and very useful gift!
