Animal Snackers Bakery in the 2nd St Market has some of the most amazing snacks you’ll find anywhere for your small pets. Or large pets.
Proceeds support the homeless pets at the Humane Society of Greater Dayton, and all treats are homemade by dedicated volunteers of the Friends of the Humane Society.
With names like Puggle Porcupines, Doxie Doughnuts, and Cat-A-Tonic Tasty Treats, there are treats for every pet’s preference. (My bunnies like the Sesame Crunchers). At least forty different varieties of treats are offered weekly, out of a total of seventy different varieties!
Animal Snackers carries snacks with cheese, chicken, beef, herb, peanut butter & more (including the vegetarian treats that my rabbits so enjoy). There are even wheat free varieties! Most of the savory treats are priced 3/$1.00 but the extra large or extra fancy may sell from 50 cents to $2.00.
Dog and cat toys are also available, with cat toys starting at 50 cents. Volunteers make some of the catnip toys, using freshly dried catnip. There are plush dog toys, some with squeakers, and hard rubber Kong toys. There are bandanas and collars and leashes and more!
Both the market and the bakery are open three days every week. Thursday and Friday the hours are 11AM til 3PM and on Saturday from 8AM til 3PM.
This week the market is open on an extra day: tomorrow, November 25th is Stock-Up Wednesday from 11-3 PM). Stop by the market, do your holiday shopping, have breakfast or lunch and pick up some treats for your pets and gifts for your friends’ pets!
