Starting next Friday, Hong Kong Disneyland will be transformed for the “A Sparkling Christmas – A Storybook Fantasy” event taking place until January 2, 2011. Guests to Hong Kong Disneyland during this time will experience beautiful Christmas decorations, a special parade, the arrival of Duffy the Disney Bear character, and of course, new seasonal foods and merchandise. As with other Disney Parks, the It’s a Small World attraction will be transformed into “It’s a Small World Christmas”.
According to an earlier survey done by Hong Kong Disneyland, around 40% of guests recommend “A Sparkling Christmas” to friends from overseas as the number one seasonal event to experience.
Main Street U.S.A. Transforms into a Gingerbread Village
This year, Hong Kong Disneyland will transform Main Street U.S.A. into Christmas Town and a Gingerbread Village, complete with houses decorated with sweets and candy canes everywhere. Guests will feel as though they are in the middle of a storybook as they wander down Main Street. Be sure to peek in the windows to get a glimpse of your favorite Disney friends preparing for the holiday season!
Nightly Procession of Toys
During the holiday celebration, each night will feature the Procession of Toys where toys will come to life and fill Main Street U.S.A. This event will feature something completely new for Hong Kong Disneyland — the arrival of Duffy the Disney Bear! Each night, during the Procession of Toys, Minnie will surprise Mickey with Duffy the Disney Bear under the sparkling Christmas tree.
“Let it Snow” Christmas Parade
Hong Kong Disneyland is bringing back the popular “Let it Snow” parade, filled with lots of holiday cheer and hundreds of dancers who will perform a glittering processional down Main Street U.S.A. And watch for a quick change in weather – there may be snow in the forecast!
Holiday Merchandise and Festive Foods
There will be over 100 new gift items available this year, although no photos or additional details have been released yet. There will also be special seasonal foods including a yuletide banquet and festive snack items.
In addition to these special holiday elements, look for the Disneyland Hotel to showcase some seasonal decor as well. For more information or tickets for the “A Sparkling Christmas – A Storybook Fantasy”, visit the Hong Kong Disneyland website or call (852)1-830-830.
