No matter where you go or what profession you enter into, there are going to be people there who have no morals. These people will try and do everything they can to either steal from the company and/or create a situation where they are fired and are able to obtain benefits via the government to get paid without working. Yes, this happens and it happens a lot. This should be listed as a crime and should be treated seriously.
It has come to our attention that there are a lot of medical workers in hospitals who are stealing medications and then selling them or using them. Some of them are trying to make up for the bad economy by selling these hard drugs to people on the street. They know that it is wrong, but they close their minds about it as to whom they may be hurting. Some of them are taking these medications and swapping them for other narcotics that they are not able to get on their own.
Whether they are taking them from the hospital themselves, other hospital workers or even patients in the hospital, they should be reported and treated like any other criminal. It is not known whether or not most hospital employees are required to have random drug tests done. An insider has told me that they do, but it does not happen often and only when the administration feels that there is suspicion about a certain worker. This should be changed by law since we rely on these people to give us the best care while we are in their stay.
