Authorities in Houston are searching for a suspect who, they say, has been linked to two rape incidents, both of which occurred in the Rustic Village Apartments in the 9300 block of Town Park Drive, situated in the southwest portion of Houston.
Since the incidents occurred on Town Park Drive, authorities are calling the suspect the “Town Park Rapist.”
Houston police say that the first incident involved a victim who was sleeping in her apartment, where a sound, resembling a door opening in progress, had woke her up. She then told authorities that right when she opened her eyes, she noticed an intruder standing next to her bed and was armed with a knife. This happened on October 16 at approximately 1:30am. She declared that the intruder communicated with her solely in Spanish and warned her that if she refused to take off her pants, he would slay her. She then declared that she refused to obey the intruder; therefore, he removed her pants himself and raped her. She also said that the intruder acted as if he was drunk. It is now unclear as to how exactly the intruder got into her apartment.
After he was finished, the intruder got away through the front door, according to authorities.
The second incident occurred about one month later, on November 18, when, according to cops, the perpetrator had resurfaced. This time, he invaded another Houston area apartment. This incident also involved a female victim who was sleeping, except that she slept on the sofa that night, when she suddenly heard a noise that came from the kitchen of her apartment at approximately 2am, authorities said. The second victim told authorities that when she went to see why the noise was made, the intruder was standing behind the door of the bathroom, as if he was hiding, only to possibly ambush the girl, which he did, by grasping her, covering her mouth, dragging her to her sofa, and sexually assaulting her. The second victim also declared that the intruder seemed to be drunk. Also in this case, it is unclear as to how precisely the intruder got into her apartment. With that said, it is most likely the same rapist that struck the same way under the same condition about a month earlier.
Thus, this is a case of a possible serial rapist.
A composite drawing of the rapist was released yesterday by police. The suspect has been described to be in his late teens or early 20s, standing between 5 feet, 4 inches and 5 feet, 6 inches in height. He has short and curly brown hair and is well-groomed.
During the first incident, a pocket knife might have been used by the assailant, and, according to authorities, he might have rode a bike.
If the suspect was aware of when his victims were home alone, he probably must have stalked his victims prior to the incidents, according to police.
Now, authorities, having only a few leads, need help from the public to find out who the suspect in these two cases is. A reward of up to $5,000 is being offered to anyone who provides information leading to the apprehension of the suspect.
This monster needs to be stopped before he harms anyone else.
If both of those incidents occurred in the same apartment complex, then it is possible that the suspect may be residing in or near the complex, or possibly frequents the complex where he may have friends of relatives.
If you are home, especially home alone, you are strongly advised to keep your doors and windows fully locked, and always double-check whether they are.
Anyone with any further information about these two cases is encouraged to contact the Houston Police Department or Crime Stoppers at 713-222-8477. It is highly recommended that tipsters should remain anonymous when reporting tips about actual criminal cases.
