His first album was released under the mysterious alias, The Mexican Standoff, however, the real mystery falls with the question, who is Jake Richter and how amazing is that sound?
Born in Hamilton, raised in Ancaster, Jacob Richter was the mysterious guy walking down the halls of Ancaster High amongst a large surrounding of friends. At fourteen years old, Jake’s creative instincts took over as he wrote his first song. Becoming a part of the band, Sara Somebody, and being able to perform the music that he had written, in front of his schoolmates, Jake knew that performing was what he was born to do.
Jake’s sound is more than just music. It is an allusion, creating a sense of drama, a production. The tremendous amount of effort he spends creating his sound is apparent as you listen to the variety of tones. Like nothing else before, Jake has successfully married the western theatre with rock ‘n’ roll.
After high school, Jake attended the University of Western Ontario and it was there that Jake had his first encounter with the acting bug. A friend had asked him to take a role in her play and he accepted. He found that he received the same rush as he did when he created his music. From university, Jake moved to NYC to attend a school for theatrical arts. Upon completion of his classes, Jake felt that he had a good foundation for beginning his professional career and he packed up and headed to Toronto.
Once in Toronto, Jake landed himself a great agent. Between his agent and the natural talent to perform, Jake has been a part of many films including, My Visit From the Friendly Neighbourhood Cable Girl, Chamber of Shadows, If Only He’d Call, Food Fight, The Little Things, Kings and The Eagle. His television credits include roles on M.A.R.S. and the Breakout. You can see him in Shredded Wheat, Tylenol and Crown Royal commercials. Jake also had roles in the following theatrical productions: Les Liasons Dangereuses, Tracers, Some Voices, Fifth of July, Rumors, The Fairy Playz and Picasso at the Lapin Agile. His most recent television role was last week on Nikata. He played bad guy, Logan.
Jake’s music career has been keeping him just as busy. His latest album, Animal on a Rock Around a Star, will be released in the next few weeks. This album will be released under Jake Richter, as he has since dropped the alias, The Mexican Standoff. A cd release party is in the works.
Jake continues to learn on his journey thru life and is proving to become a wonderful role model for people who need a push to follow their dreams. To contact Jake or to learn more about him, join his facebook group page http://www.facebook.com/pages/Jake-Richter-Music/262216638171
