Singer and actress Jennifer Hudson held a toy drive on Wednesday in memory of her nephew Julian King, who was allegedly murdered by her sisters husband in 2008, along with her mother and brother.
Hudson and her sister, Julia Hudson, who is Julian’s mother said they wanted something positive to come from the family’s triple tragedy. Julia, was in charge of picking the toys for the kids.
“Julian would have loved it. He always had toys. I would come home and see his bike down the street and say, ‘Why is your bike down the street?’ ‘Oh I gave it away.’ This would be right up his alley I think. I know he’s smiling, something he would have done, exactly,” Julia said to WLS-TV.
Hundreds of underprivileged Chicago children will have a merrier Christmas thanks to Hudson and her sister.
“That’s what makes me happy during the holiday season, just to see someone smile and clap or [be] excited that makes my holiday,” the Oscar-winning actress Hudson said.
If you would like to help a needy child and help Jennifer’s family honor Julian’s memory, drop a new, unwrapped toy at any Los Angeles fire station.
Jennifer Hudson says among her many gifts this year is her son, David.
“He makes it that much better, too. He just brought it back around for us. It’s just super exciting and a really, really good time.”
