Samara L. Seward, 32, also known as the “buxom bandit” posed as a school volunteer getting access to school offices, classrooms, hallways, breakrooms, in five Leon County elementary schools this past week. Seward stoled personal property left unattended such as wallets, personal identifcation, credit cards, etc. from school employees. According to LCSO, Seward was a professioal thief and had committed a string of similar burglaries in Florida.
Investigators received a call from a woman who heard about this week’s theft in the Leon County schools and told them that it sounded like the same person involved in thefts in several Broward County schools. She was arrested in Broward on 1 July and also in Martin County. She had warrants out for similar thefts in Deerfeld Beach, North Landerdale and Pembrooke Pines. In cooperation with law enforcement in Broward county, Seward was identified and subsequently located in a hotel in Tallahassee on Monday. She was arrested and held without bail on charges of burglary, grand theft, fraud and other related charges, She made her first appearance in court yesterday at 8:30 a.m.
All concerned school officials are revisiting their security procedures to ensure that this type of activity does not happen again. School officials also have reminded employees to secure their personal property and not leave it unattended in classrooms and offices.
