You made have seen Glico’s Pocky in stores like FYE in the United States with its classic large white letters and red box. Now, Pocky fans in Japan have been pouring in to get their hands on a limited edition Pocky Guitar since November 11th.
Kazuyoshi Saitou, a Japanese singer-songwriter who made his debut in 1993, has been working with Ezaki Glico Co., Ltd. to promote Pocky, their popular chocolate-on-a-stick snack. He wrote and performed the commercial theme song “Stick to fun! Tonight!” where he used a Pocky-themed guitar. The guitar also made appearances on Saitou’s latest album and in the full music video for the song. Due to popular demand, the guitar has entered mass production and will surely be a collector’s item for Pocky fans everywhere.
The guitar is available for 42,000 yen (about $500) and is made out of hard maple for the neck and mahogany for the base. The base looks like a large red Pocky box and features the Glico logo on the head. Fans have until November 30 to place their orders and will receive the guitar mid-January.
