Looking for a couple of good reasons to exercise besides losing weight and looking good?
Physical activity can stave off or improve conditions such as diabetes, osteoporosis, high blood pressure and high cholesterol and indirectly life threatening conditions such as heart disease and stroke.
If stress has your frazzled, exercise provides a brain chemistry “adjustment” so you feel more relaxed and less depressed.
With another year of strained budgets approaching, consider joining the KCC Fit for Life class. Provided free of charge by the Kempsville Church of Christ (directions), this six week class is being taught by four health professionals including a registered dietician, certified personal trainers and certified and licensed exercise instructors.
Food journals, realistic goal setting, portion control and label reading, the food pyramid, exercise at 2 intensity levels and developing an exercise plan will be covered and baseline fitness tests such as measurements and percentage of body fat will be calculated to give participants a starting point to assess their progress.
The class starts January 5, 2011 at 7 pm. Activities are provided for children. For more information call 490-3925.
