Examiner: In your words describe what it is to be a photographer?
Jason: To me being a photographer is capturing the essence of the moment, whatever the moment might be.
Examiner: How long have you been a photographer?
Jason: I’ve been a professional photographer for 2 ½ years
Examiner: What types of photos do you take?
Jason: Most of the work I’ve done so far has included events, portraits, runway and a little fashion. I don’t think there is anything I won’t shoot. I love photography too much too pass up opportunities to grow!
Examiner: When did you realized that you wanted to be a photographer?
Jason: I’ve had an interest in photography since I was younger. I attribute that to my day being at all my extra curricular activities with a camera. But the defining moment is when my friend had the grand opening her real estate company. My wife and I were helping out and she asked me to take photos. She had a Nikon that was given to her as a gift so she could photograph her properties. She was amazed at the photos I took and how I captured the emotions of those at the event. It was no big deal to me I just shot what I saw.
Examiner: What was the first photograph you remember taking?
Jason: It was a Polaroid. I don’t think it was actually a picture of anything. I was little it was in my reach and had a big button on it so I pushed. And of course I got in trouble for wasting film
Examiner: Where do you get your inspiration from when on a shoot?
Jason: My inspiration is fed by the person I’m shooting and the environment I’m in. When I’m in the studio I always try to have music going. Usually what the subject likes but if they’re indecisive I play what ever I’m in the mood for that day.
Examiner: Do you prefer to shoot in the studio or on location?
Jason: No preference really, I like them both. On location give more variety but it introduces more variables that are out of my control.
Examiner: What does your photography bring to Nashville?
Jason: My photography brings another view of the world to Nashville. I tend to view the world around me slightly different that the average person and that’s because I’m analytical with a mild case of obsessive compulsive disorder.
Examiner: Have you worked with any notale clientele?
Jason: Wow! The most notable person for me is fashion designer Nicole Miller. She did a benefit show for the Cystic Fibrosis foundation and I was given the opportunity to be the sponsor photographer.
Examiner: Where can the readers find you on the world wide web?
Jason: martinimagery.com; twitter/martinimagery.com; facbook.com/martinimagery; modelmayhem.com/martinimagery
Examiner: Where can the reader view your work?
Examiner: How can someone reach you to schedule a shoot?
Jason: Email is the best way to reach me firstname.lastname@example.org
Examiner: Do you have any parting suggestions or advice for any photographer just starting out?
Jason: Never stop learning and never stop shooting. I’m an experiential learner, so I learn by doing. The more I do, the faster I learn.
