Mazak Mine update: Man feared dead in Florida mine collapse
A man is feared dead after a Sumter county, Florida mine, Mazak Mine, collapsed on Thursday. Rescue efforts are currently underway as Lake Sumter first responders have arrived on the scene. The Mazak Mine is located near State Roads 471 and 50 near Webster, Florida.
Early reports suggest that the man was working at a sand pit when he was caught in the collapse. Dive teams were dispatched to help locate the man believed trapped. It is unclear how the man became trapped in the limestone mine or what caused the mine to collapse. The man is believed trapped underwater.
