The Consumer Product Safety Commission has issued a warning that people should stop using these immediately. Six people have reported incidents; five were due to fires. And another consumer was burned.
These could present a very serious hazard with small children anyway. Also, if they are used near anything that would catch fire easily. In all the decorating excitement for any holiday, safety for the family should be of utmost concern. Be sure to click on the link that leads to the photo. While nice to look at, these could be very dangerous.
Also, be aware of your guest when burning scented candles or air freshners. Many people have lung/breathing problems and this would be uncomfortable for them.
One of the best gifts to give at Christmas is a fire extinghisher and/or a smoke alarm.
