“If you are being clawed by human tigers , it is simply because you choose to inhabit the human jungle” V. Howard
Taylor Lynne Trentwood, Ph.D
This is a very powerful statement and the quote is also a cogent reminder that we do indeed cause most of our own problems . We do so, more often than is realized , by the people with whom we CHOOSE to associate. Cosmetic Neurology has shown that the influence of our usual associates is reflected in our levels of energy, judgment and character as well as in our weight and health. When your usual methods for good health fail to do enough, it is extraordinarily effective to add this dimension to your quest to “be the best that you can be”. Cosmetic Neurology insists that human input has to be added very high on the list to interventions for the good life.
Vernon Howard is reminding us that we choose to inhabit various jungles and that we have no one to blame but ourselves if we are “clawed”. In a world where an external locus of control (he made me do it, its your fault , etc ) predominates as a “reason” for error , we do well to keep this truth forefront in our mind when our world seems out of control.
His warning is cogent and timely as all of us, especially right now , are having to deal with a great many more stressors than usual. Financial issues plus the holiday demands , when united, are, for many people, creating sheer overload.
The people around us will either help with the pressures or add to them. It is wise to discern which person does which . It is vital to reduce as much wasted energy as possible. The tension in the air/ether/Zeitgeist is felt far more keenly now than usual. Christmas can be wonderful but making the arrangements for all of its wonder can be more taxing than is realized.
Our brain , its circuits and chemistry manages our body . Our friends and associates influence the function of our brain to a significant degree. Those in our inner , chosen circle have a great power over us and often it is unrecognized influence. We are ignorant as to the source and strength of that , often almost hypnotic, persuasion.
While we attend to vitamins, exercise, allergies and supplements , we can add to our armamentariums the power of mindful and discriminating choice. Who we choose to be invited into our inner circle may well have more to do with our health and well being than all of these other enhancements combined!
To work on enhancing all of our powers by means of healthful patterns and supplements is not going to be effective while we permit toxic people to remain within our sphere. All of the anti-depressants in the warehouse can not relieve entirely the effects of noxious people .
The questions about cosmetic neurology , secondary to this column seldom, if ever, include the assessment of the effects of the people in one’s life. Bringing that essential reality into the equation will solve many issues of fatigue, poor health and “depression”
