As the holiday season is upon us, it’s the time of year we have some time off and look for relaxing ways to spend that time. Some of us gather up with good books, family, friends, movies. And I’m sure most of us will spend some time online as well! Which is why I would like to take this time to share with you three celebrity blogs that I discovered this year that I found to be incredibly interesting, enriching, fun blogs to search through and read. I make no claims that these should be the top three blogs you check out. There are of course so many insightful blogs out there today by many smart thinkers. These are just three of my favorites that when given the time I like to spend reading through. And so I am sharing them with you here and why I think they are more than worth checking out!
If there was ever a blog a ‘go-to’ blog for the questions that spun around in your mind on a daily basis but your hectic every-day routines of life kept you from asking, it’s GOOP; a blog created by actress Gwyneth Paltrow. Appropriately divided into categories of ‘Make’, ‘Do’, ‘Get’, ‘Be’, ‘See’, ‘Go’, Paltrow writes just about everything you can think of in regards to issues concerning health, nutrition, parenting, lifestyles, friendships, relationships, style, mediation, cooking, holidays, and the list goes on and on. What’s most interesting and unique about GOOP is Paltrow’s raising of important issues and questions in connection with our minds and souls and her leaving the questions to be answered by groups of thinkers from various traditions. A visit to Paltrow’s blog can easily captivate your full attention and pass time without realization as you get soaked into her insightful discussions with psychologists, spiritual leaders, doctors, and more, all of whom contribute to the blog on a regular basis. The viewpoints you get are priceless! Reading GOOP can truly be a highly enriching discovery process on a wealth topics. Check it out! I promise it’s a blog that’s well worth your time and will most likely leave you wanting to bookmark it so you can easily return to it time and time again. GOOP
Her titles alone of actress, singer, songwriter, restaurant owner, etc..should want to make you read her blog. Someone with this many talents must have an eclectic mind right? And she sure does have an eclectic blog! I’m talking about One Tree Hill star, Everly music artist, and ‘The Notebook’ musical creator, Bethany Joy Galeotti. ‘Bethany Joy Blog’ is a mix of both eye-opening and fun-to-read posts by Galeotti. She covers vital topics current in society such as those of “political correctness” and issues concerning violence against women, while asking her fans to get involved and share their viewpoints with one another. One popular post of hers that really stood out to me was that on what Galeotti referred to as the ‘American Gossip Epidemic’; in which she criticized the tabloids and the destruction and damage they cause. This led to her discussion of the recent spike in suicides committed by America’s youth due to the growing rate of unnecessary and hurtful gossip. The fact that One Tree Hill’s audience is made up mostly the youth makes one smile that their leading lady shed light on an unfortunate issue involving out-of-control gossip today and its’ tragic consequences. In lieu of the gossip blogs, Galeotti linked to her readers a few interesting #morefunthangossip blogs. Continuing with the theme of important topics, Galeotti also shares her passion for LOVE 146, a movement against child sex-trafficking and how people can help to stop it. But it’s not all heavy issues, Galeotti also posts on favorite novels she recommends, style tips, music, and much more that present an overall interesting blog to occupy your time with. As previously noted, with all the various projects Galeotti has her hands dipped in, her blog can’t be anything but versatile and that’s what makes it a must-read for me!
I have had the great honor of meeting and interviewing Bethany Joy Galeotti and from a personal experience she came across to me as a smart, humble, (of course talented), and hard-working person with thoughts to be admired. Why not check out the blog of someone like this? BJG Official
My last but certainly not least favorite blog of the year was one I only discovered a couple months ago and was disappointed in myself for not learning of it earlier. It’s one by an American icon,; two-time Academy Award winning actress, writer, activist, etc..; I’m talking about the one and only Jane Fonda. Fonda’s site, ‘Jane Fonda’ is a reflection of the life she’s lived, is currently living, and the life she hopes today’s children’s children can live. In addition to her frequent journal style posts about her fascinating never-a-dull-moment life; Fonda divides up her site as if it were an open book into to her life. ‘Activism’, ‘Family & Friends’, ‘Writing’, ‘Matters That Move Me’, ‘Acting’, are just some of the topics Fonda presents to her readers. I personally find myself getting lost in the ‘Activism’ section with information and links on the ever-growing violence and rape in the Democratic Republic of Congo, campaigns on preventing teen dating violence and adolescent pregnancy, and Advocacy for women in the media. Just like Paltrow and Galeotti’s blogs, this is an active blog which allows you to gain and experience new things as well as to get involved in many ways and be a part of what the author’s a part of.
