The new Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) fee schedule will be effective Tuesday, Nov. 23, 2010. ¿What does it mean for practical purposes? Simply, that applications and petitions postmarked or filed on or after this date are required to include the new fee, which in average increases the cost in about 10 percent.
USCIS published the new fee schedule in the Federal Register on Sept. 24 and ongoing processes hit by the increase that fail to submit the new amount will be rejected.
The new fee schedule does not affect the naturalization application (N-400) fee, which stays in $595. To see the final rule adjusting fees for immigration benefitsin and how it will affect your process, visit the USCIS website.
