As the year end approaches and new years resolutions come to be, if weight loss is one of your goals, start planning now. Yes, even as you sit there, stuffed with Christmas cookies and eggnog, it’s as good a time as any to start planning your lifestyle changes.
Many face the battles of weight loss having no idea what to do. The amount of diets, weight loss ‘programs’, fitness guru experts, books, dvd’s, exercise programs is simply staggering. How to maneuver which one will work? That’s your first step.
Figuring out which program, diet, advice you want to follow should be the beginning. How are you going to go about this task? Regardless if it’s something different than you’ve used in the past or an old familiar, start reading into it now, so you’ll be well prepared for the start, whenever you choose that to be.
Take into consideration the ideal situation for your own personal weight loss. Just because you are joining the battle of the bulge with your best friend, doesn’t mean you have to follow the same program. Do what works best for you. Factor in your job, your schedule, your budget, your home life, your social life, what’s the one thing that can work the best for your life right now? It doesn’t have to be the one program from beginning to end. After some time, it’s perfectly okay to change things up a little, or to switch to a new program to continue weight loss.
The last and final point, make sure the program or lifestyle changes are do-able. If you know you cannot afford Jenny Craig, then don’t start. If you know you could never squeeze even 30 minutes of time into your schedule, then an all-exercise program might not work for you either.
Even if you only last a few months on the chosen program, it’s okay. While it may have been a second best choice, the important thing is to find out what does work for you.
Research the internet, talk to friends and relatives about their successes and/or failures, find out the ins and outs of each program you’d consider. Take your time choosing and dive in! It’s going to be a New Year and the start of a New You!
