For most the drive is long. For all the trip is worth it. In a case of six degrees of separation with food, everyone either knows about, has been, or wants to go to Knaus Berry Farm. Located in Homestead, Knaus Berry Farm is famous for their cinnamon rolls and shakes. Contrary to popular belief, the owners of Knaus Berry Farm are not Amish. What they are, instead, are the makers of baked goods that have captured the hearts (and stomachs) of many who patiently wait through the summer months and anxiously await the beginning of the farming season in November.
With lines that kept you waiting at least an hour, a trip out to Knaus Berry Farm’s opening weekend on November 13-14, 2010 was definitely a trip that required some planning and a lot of patience. If you asked any of the employees why the lines were so long they would tell you people were just excited about finally getting their hands on the famous cinnamon rolls. The rolls are worth the wait too; all sugary sweetness wrapped in a perfectly baked dough. The closer you got to the bakery the stronger the smell of cinnamon enveloped you. Patrons left Knaus Berry Farm with boxes full of rolls that not only begged to be eaten on the spot, but rolls that also freeze and reheat well for eating at some later time.
While Knaus Berry Farm is known throughout for their cinnamon rolls and their deliciously creamy shakes, they also offer a variety of other baked goods. Their sourdough bread is wholesome and soft in the way that only homemade breads can be. Their apple pies are a testament to why apple pies are considered a great all-American dessert. Their dinner rolls are so good it is hard to eat them just with dinner. Without a doubt, everything offered at Knaus Berry Farm is a feast for the taste buds.
Even with these offerings and their fresh produce, what people want when they go to Knaus Berry Farm is the cinnamon rolls. There is enough supply to meet the demand and from the looks of the crowd there this weekend, Knaus Berry Farm is going to have a every busy season and their fame is going to continue to much-deservedly spread.
Knaus Berry Farm is location at 15980 SW 248th Street, Homestead, FL, 33031. They are open Monday through Saturday from 8:30am-5:00pm and are open for the season until the last Saturday of April. For more on Knaus Berry Farm go to their website and Facebook page.
