In August of 2010, the office complex at 388 S. Main St. welcomed a new charter school, Pathways to Success. However, around November 2010, operation of the school was assumed by Imagine Schools.
Imagine Schools are “a national family of public charter schools that empowers educators in partnership with parents to prepare students for lives of leadership, accomplishment, and character,” according to their literature. They operate 72 schools in 12 states and Washington, D.C.
Why did the change take place? According to Imagine Schools, Pathways was about to close the school. Imagine did not want that to happen and saw an opportunity to continue to serve Akron’s children. (They operate another campus on Romig Road). Their goal is to “increase the number of classrooms…and extend the opportunity for more students to experience this…school.” Imagine Schools focus on the individual student and their learning style. They are tuition-free.
