She’s known in the skating community for her grace, expression, and that famous Hamill camel. Her win at the 1976 Olympic Games and iconic wedge haircut inspired millions of women around the world, and now America’s skating sweetheart, Dorothy Hamill, has entered a different enterprise in hopes of inspiring many more: a charitable fine jewelry partnership with Helzberg Diamonds, a leader of fine jewelry, diamond engagement and wedding rings, precious gems and watches.
Exclusive to Helzberg Diamonds, Hamill’s “Love, Help, and Hope by Dorothy Hamill” Collection will feature freshwater cultured pearls, 14-karat white gold pendants studded with diamonds and pink sapphires, and sterling silver diamond bracelets and earrings. A portion of all proceeds will be donated to Susan G. Komen for the Cure, “the world’s largest network of breast cancer survivors and activists.”
Hamill, a breast cancer survivor, was inspired not only by her very personal connection to the disease but by her love of jewelry as well.
“I have always had a passion for jewelry and I feel it is important to be able to give back. I created Love, Help and Hope to offer customers a line of beautiful jewelry that has a purpose. As a breast cancer survivor myself, I know how devastating a diagnosis is,” explains Hamill who was diagnosed with the disease in 2007.
“There are many, many important causes that deserve support but with Dorothy’s personal connection to breast cancer, the outstanding work being done by Susan G. Komen for the Cure and the tremendous number of people affected by this disease, we felt this was the right cause to benefit from the launch of this product,” says Beryl Raff, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Helzberg Diamonds.
Hamill’s jewelry ranges in price from $79.99 for a sterling silver and pink rhodium ribbon ring to $1,999.99 for a 1ct TW 14 karat white gold diamond heart and ribbon pendant. Customers also have the opportunity to donate $5.00 to the Susan G. Komen for the Cure foundation.
“Over the past 30-years, significant advances have been made in the fight against breast cancer, but there’s still work to be done when somewhere in the world, someone dies of the disease every 69 seconds,” points out Katrina McGhee, EVP and Chief Marketing Officer of Susan G. Komen for the Cure. “This fight is personal for so many of us and Komen is grateful to have the support of Helzberg Diamonds and Dorothy Hamill.”
In its efforts to support the fight against breast cancer, Helzberg will donate $5.00 of every “Love, Help, and Hope” purchase to the Susan G. Komen for the Cure foundation now through September 30, 2011, with a promise of a minimum donation of $100,000.
You can purchase pieces from Hamill’s “Love, Help, and Hope by Dorothy Hamill” Collection online through Helzberg’s website or in Pittsburgh’s Helzberg Diamond stores located in The Mall at Robinson or South Hills Village.
