The Patriot Guard Riders gathered in numbers, almost 200 strong, to show their reverence and support of the family of Lance Corporal Dakota Huse, a 19 year old Marine, who was killed in action in Afghanistan and laid to rest yesterday in Shreveport. Huse was killed when a roadside bomb exploded causing fatal injuries.
One PGR member whom I spoke to said “he gave the ultimate sacrifice for your freedom; you can give a couple of hours of your time.” And, that’s what the PGR is all about; many are Americans who have never met the fallen soldier, yet have enormous gratitude and respect for his contribution to our freedom. It is never about politics or their position on the war, but about honor and freedom. PGR membership is free, and open to riders and non-riders alike. To join, sign up at their website.
Donttreadonme2010 wrote in his YouTube tribute a quote by John S. Mill “The person who has nothing for which he is willing to fight, nothing that is more important than his own personal safety, is a miserable creature and has no chance of being free unless made and kept so by the exertions of better men than himself.”
According to KTBS 3 news “Anyone wanting to honor Huse, should consider donating to Toys for Tots or St. Jude’s Children’s hospital, two causes he held dear to his heart.”
