Within 36 hours of crashing into the electoral iceberg the Captain of the H.R. Democritanic announces that she wants the crew to make her leader of the lifeboats. It’s just too incredible. I don’t believe it.
The media, like lemmings rushing off a cliff, focus immediately on this preposterous proposition. They are agog about it. And that, I believe is why the announcement was made; to get the media to talk about something other than the worst shellacking in modern political history. How better to do it than to announce the unbelievable?
And, for good measure, that other cheerful face, the co-captain of the debacle, Harry Reid will also stand for a leadership role. Below decks, the navigator of the doomed voyage, Barack Obama seems detached, not understanding that his ship is sinking. He thinks it’s the fault of the passengers. Many of them were warning about the iceberg before the collision. It’s a communication problem, they just don’t understand that the ship is not sinking.
This is, of course, all a show to make the voters with short attention spans forget about the disaster.
Pelosi may have won re-election in the People’s Republic of San Francisco, but I don’t think she deserves to be in charge of any American institution, especially in congress.
I was there when she told a church full of illegal aliens that enforcing our immigration laws was “un-American.”
Some exerpts from Capt. Pelosi addressing the mostly illegal alien audience:
“Isn’t it appropriate that Barack Obama adopted that slogan, “Yes we can”? Yes we can! Si Se Puede!”
“Forgive me for not being able to speak to you in Spanish. “
My personal favorite:
“You are a special people. You’re here on a Saturday night to take responsibility for our country’s future. That makes you very, very patriotic.”
About immigration enforcement she said, “I think it’s un-American. I think it’s un-American…It must be stopped. It must be stopped…There are ways it can stop, by just changing policy by the administration, which I think will happen.” And it has.
“The Congressional Hispanic Caucus and the Democrats have a principle… A path to legalization.” Also called amnesty.
“We have to have a change in policy and practice and again…can’t say enough; The raids must end. The raids must end.”
“May I say how proud I am to represent you? Again to exercise your patriotic duty.” Again with the patriotism.
“And I thank each and every one of you… for what you do to strengthen America. And to make, as I said before, to make America more American. Thank you for this opportunity.”
Ah, yes. Coming here illegally makes America more American. Thanks, skipper.
In the original maritime disaster the conclusion of the British Inquiry into the sinking was “that the loss of the said ship was due to collision with an iceberg, brought about by the excessive speed at which the ship was being navigated.” I think one could say that’s a good analogy with the present.
However, unlike Capt. Edward Smith, who went down with his ship on April 14-15, 1912, (an honorable tradition) Pelosi wants to continue, perhaps thinking she deserves a leadership role. Or maybe deserve has nothing to do with. Maybe she just wants to keep that Air Force jet that ferries her from coast to coast every week.
It’s possible that sometime before the leadership vote in the coming week that Pelosi will “decide” not to run for minority leader. One would think that the Navigator might advise her that, if she is publically commenting about Republican legislation that the rest of us might be privately thinking about the collision with the iceberg.
Si, se puede.
