In the midst of the hustle and bustle of the holiday season in an era of regional prosperity, it is easy to forget the most important commodity of our region – the people. A community is not about industry or interchange, it is about the interaction of people and the gifts they give everyday to the people around them. Indeed, there are some very special people who quietly give to others every day, each with their own reasons, setting the pace for the rest of us as role models and examples. These people are the presents of the season.
In the audio to the left is the story of ten different people and groups in the little town of Glendive, Montana. Cumulatively they save the community thousands of dollars each year by taking on responsibilities that others might charge for. Instead, they are gifts to all of us.
