With the holidays coming up, finding deals wherever you can is a blessing. How about finding a new deal every day of the year that is right where you live? That is where Groupon comes in. Groupon is a service that brings all of the local, time sensitive deals directly to you. You can use their website at Groupon.com or one of their mobile apps if you have a smart phone.
You find the daily deal by checking your email, Facebook, Twitter or their mobile app. You then either print out the coupon or show it to the sales people, on your mobile phone. All of the deals are time sensitive. The website shows you how long you have until the deal expires. There is one daily deal for each market that Groupon covers.
Some of the deals on Groupon are pretty amazing. As of this writing there is a spa deal worth $100 for only $40. That’s a 60% discount. Not too bad for a few seconds worth of checking. Use the APP on your phone and it will show you all of the deals that are near you wherever you are.
The only downside is that a certain number of people must claim a deal for it to be valid. The deals are so good that this is not normally a problem, but it is something to bear in mind.
On an interesting note, in October of 2010, it was rumored that Yahoo! offered over $3 billion to acquire Groupon. And they are said to be the fastest growing internet company.
How about you? Have you ever tried Groupon? Would you recommend it to others? Let us know in the comments.
