December 23, the New England Revolution announced they signed central defender Ryan Cochrane, formerly of the Houston Dynamo. Cochrane, 27, was selected by the Revolution along with Fred in stage 2 of the re-entry process. Cochrane won two MLS Cups with the Dynamo in 2006 and 2007 and over his career made 123 regular season appearances, scored four goals and recorded four assists.
After leaving Santa Clara University, Cochrane was drafted by the San Jose Earthquakes in 2004 and stayed with the team when it relocated to Houston in 2006. He was again selected by the new expansion San Jose Earthquakes in the 2007 expansion draft. and was traded back to the Dynamo on Aug. 14, 2009.
