With the constant fluctuating in temperature, children must be in their warm clothes before leaving for schools. Heads and ears must be covered as they might catch cold if left uncovered.
While commuting by bus or any other vehicle children must make sure that the windows are pulled down so that the chilly wind does not enter through the window. The temperature is at its lowest in the early morning and this is the time when children might catch a cold and may invite other winter borne sickness.
Teachers must update children about Flu shots and its importance. They must communicate with the child and know whether the child has taken the flu shot or not. If not then it is the responsibility of the teacher to inform and advice the parents to give the mandatory shot to the child.
Schools can also organize small medical camps where they can provide flu shots to children. These camps can also educate children as well as parents about the safety measures that they can take in order to protect their children from the cold winter months.
Teachers may keep essential medicines in store for any emergency situation related to the child’s safety during these chilly winter months. They must interact with the child and know about the winter diet that the child is following at home. She may make a diet chart inside the classroom and convey to the children the importance of following a healthy diet in winter.
In order to keep the child safe, teachers must maintain a healthy and warm ambiance inside the classroom. She must not allow the children to stay on the playground for a very long time. Instead of playing on the ground the teacher can encourage yoga and meditation inside the classroom. These activities help the children to feel healthy and warm from within.
Teachers must also make the children understand the importance of not pampering themselves with too much of cold beverages, ice-cream and other frozen stuff during these chiily months. Children must be encouraged to take a lot of fruits, salads and water in order to keep themselves safe and healthy during this chilly weather.
