2010 Auction Supports Legacy of Bishop Ward
The BishopWardHigh School“Our Destiny Is Our Legacy” 2010 Annual Auction was held on Saturday, Oct. 23 in the JackReardonCenterat the Hilton Garden Inn Hotel in downtown Kansas City, Kan.
Over 500 alumni, parents, and friends of Bishop Ward successfully raised over $160,000 to benefit the students of BishopWardHigh School. The community also showed great support for Bishop Ward’s wellness initiative by raising $46,000 towards the renovation of the kitchen and cafeteria. This renovation will allow Bishop Ward to continue to provide its students with fresh, healthy, organic meals prepared daily.
“This year’s auction was a success at many levels,” President Fr. Michael Hermes said. “We raised a lot of money for our school, we had great community and alumni support, and we had many 8th grade parents interested in Bishop Ward in attendance. Parental involvement in the auction was at an all time high and helped achieve our goals. I am grateful to Auction Chairs Lonnie and Nancy Gilbert and the entire auction committee for planning such a wonderful event.”
New to this year’s Auction was the student Wish Tree, filled with hundreds of wishes representing the themes of mind, body, and soul. The Wish Tree granted a total of $4,600 for our students.
The exciting, fun-filled evening also featured live Irish music performed by Bishop Ward’s Music Director Adam Braunschweig, and the Mariachi band Mariachi Mexico. The Nigro Brothers Auctioneers once again shook things up with a rollicking game of “Heads or Tails” that energized the entire crowd.
“We would like to thank everyone for attending the 2010 Bishop Ward High School Annual Auction,” Auction Chair Nancy Gilbert said. “It was a memorable evening and a successful event to benefit our school. We would like to express our gratitude to all the friends, families and alumni of Bishop Ward for your continued support of and dedication to our students.”
