March 2011 will see the release of a new free-to-play baseball simulation game, as SEGA announced the upcoming release of MLB Manager Online.
The first internet-based sports simulation to be released by SEGA, MLB Manager Online will be available in the United States, Canada, Japan, and South Korea, and is fully licensed by Major League Baseball Advanced Media, the MLB’s official interactive media and Internet company. It will be browser-based and utilize Adobe Flash.
The game will allow players to manage teams utilizing hundreds of players across all 30 US MLB teams, with a goal to reach the World Champions Tournament.
VP of Digital Business, SEGA of America, Haruki Satomi, commented in a press release that MLB Manager Online “represents an important step forward in SEGA’s goal of expanding into the digital gaming space and providing fans with exciting new ways to enjoy their favorite sport.
Beta applications are currently being accepted until December 27th, 2010 at the game’s official website. Closed beta testing will begin on January 7th, 2011.
