Around a decade ago, on September 16, 2000, a quinceanera festivity was taking place, with many guests (consisting of family members and friends) having lots of fun. The party was especially for a 15-year-old Napa, California girl as they had celebrated the rite of passage into the age of adulthood. However, the celebration would soon be destroyed.
The young girl and more than 300 guests have first attended a church mass. Subsequently, they attended the festivity that took place at the fairgrounds of Napa, California. The girl asked a man by the name of Marco Antonio Camacho whether he could be her date at this once-in-a-lifetime occasion. But, according to cops, the girl was unaware that the man she selected as her escort was hot-tempered and with a fierce past.
Meanwhile, a man by the name of Robert Torres arrived at the festivity with a few friends of his. But before they could go inside, they were stopped by security personnel since they did not have their invitations with them.
For the moment, Torres walked up to Camacho, who was standing outside at the time, and asked him whether he was familiar with someone by the name of “Juan,” who gave him the invitation. Then, for reasons unknown, Camacho became outraged at Torres, leading the two to engage in a fiery verbal dispute, according to cops. After that, Camacho became fierce. He took out his gun that he placed in his waistband and shot Torres, who was hit in his wrist and torso. He then collapsed.
When his fiancé, who was 5-months pregnant with their child, discovered Torres wounded, she went up to him and put him around her arms while they were waiting for an ambulance to take him to a hospital.
A witness who happened to be in close proximity to the scene started to flee. That was when Camacho spotted him, brandished his gun at him, and started to open fire. But luckily, the witness managed to get away from the situation unharmed. After that, Camacho ran off and was last seen hopping over a fence at the fairgrounds.
Torres was taken to a hospital. But after spending two weeks there, he died from his wounds. His daughter was born some time soon following his death. Sadly, she will never know who her father is. This sudden, senseless tragic end to his life has torn this family apart.
According to friends, the victim did not seem to have any previous connection with the killer. In other words, they were not familiar with each other.
As the investigation of this case went on, police learned that the suspect was involved in another quinceanera shooting that occurred two days before Torres was shot. In that party, a few uninvited people showed up at the social gathering, leading Camacho to take out a gun and shoot at them. But luckily, all of those targets escaped without injury.
Then on November 5, 1999, while Camacho was driving on a freeway, he was stopped by officers of the California Highway Patrol (CHP). At that time, the officers learned that Camacho had kept a Ruger Mini-14 rifle and 50 .223 caliber rounds in the trunk of his vehicle. Hence, the officers decided to confiscate those weapons from him.
Marco Camacho is considered armed and extremely dangerous. If he attended any other of these parties after Torres’ murder, then he may have done the same thing. So why would he harm uninvited guests to parties he attends, even if he does not know them? This raises so many questions. He may also be a gang member.
Marco Comacho has been described as a Hispanic male who is currently 30 years of age (he was about 20 when he shot and killed Torres). He stands 6 feet in height and weighs around 160 pounds. He has black hair, shaved or otherwise, and brown eyes. He also has an “x” tattooed on his left ear and something that looks like a “3” tattooed on his right ear. With this said, he should not be so hard to recognize.
Camacho was last seen in Napa, California at the party, which took place at the fairgrounds. Currently, he could be anywhere in California, or he could be in North Carolina, or in Mexico, especially in the city or state of Colima, where he is known to have relatives. He could be using the alias “Jose Antonio Gutierrez.” So let’s try to end this decade-long manhunt by bringing Camacho to justice as soon as possible before he harms anyone else!
Anyone with any further information about this case or about the whereabouts of Marco Antonio Camacho is encouraged to contact the Napa Police Department. It is highly recommended that tipsters should remain anonymous when reporting tips about actual criminal cases.
